I have always taken a tremendous amount of joy in teaching the staff at my restaurants. I remember how incredibly intimidated I was by the world of wine when I started as a back server in fine dining, so now I truly enjoy attempting to make it as approachable as possible for newcomers.
Evan started his career at the Native American owned and inspired Kai Restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona. Through Evan’s 5 years at Kai, he helped the restaurant achieve the Forbes 5 Star Award and rose from back server to wine director. Continuing his wine studies in Las Vegas and the Bay Area, Evan has served as sommelier at several Michelin starred restaurants and helped develop multiple Wine Spectator Grand Award-winning wine lists, including the Joël Robuchon restaurants in Las Vegas, and later serving as Head Sommelier and Restaurant Director at Saison in San Francisco. As part of the opening team at SingleThread, Evan helped the restaurant to become one of the fastest ever to achieve 3 Michelin stars. Evan is an Advanced Sommelier, French Wine Scholar, and California Wine Appellation Specialist, with a passion for Burgundy, Champagne, and the wines of the Sonoma Coast.
